About this event
Activate 16th Street with us! We are pleased to feature Gary Sloan's Pedal Steel Adventure 11am-1pm at The Outer Space at 16th & Welton. Dancers, listeners and passerbys welcome!\n\nThe steel guitar is unfortunately losing its prevalence... Gary Sloan, a chronic multi-instrumentalist, decided that this stunning instrument deserves to be heard and people deserve to hear it. You won't hear modern country, high-range E9 pedal steel like on the radio- you might hear a pinch of it- but the steel guitar is capable of so much more. \n\nExpect swing music, jump blues, Beatles tunes, even talkbox on the already overly complex instrument. Steel guitar already sounds good. So does jazz organ- and the pairing sounds just as amazing as you'd expect. \n\nInstruments that already sound good playing songs that already sound good? That's intentional and the band leader sees no separation between art music and entertainment music, this trio does both simultaneously. Dan Moran plays organ- he has never played an out of place note in his life and Jaik Hakkarinen is a brilliant young drummer who really gets both art and entertainment.
